In Honor of

Our Father

3 of us with our cousin

Homero Martínez

who bravely battled advanced heart failure until his passing in 2015.

He dedicated his life to serving others—through his love for music,

his passion for radio as a broadcaster, and his career as a school counselor and elementary teacher.
He instilled in us the values of compassion, generosity, and a deep commitment to serving those in need.

My Father was devoted

to education, service, and community through radio y la musica Tejana

For over 40 years, he immersed himself in La Música Tejana, not as a job, but as a hobby. He was a beloved radio personality, someone whose voice was known across the border region, not only for the music he played but for the warmth, joy, and connection he brought to every broadcast and the community. My father taught us that both education and service were powerful tools for uplifting others, whether in the classroom or over the airwaves.

Why It Matters

Because behind every heartbeat is a story worth saving.

In the 1990s, our family turned my father’s beloved radio station in Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, just across from our hometown of Del Rio, Texas, into a family business that became a cultural heartbeat for our community. My father, known as Mr. Tejano Shuffle, was its soul, sharing music, stories, and the vibrant spirit of Tejano culture. My brother, Rodney, built lasting connections with artists, businesses, and listeners, while I curated the music and programming that kept the station alive with rhythm and heart. We united people through music, stories, and events, creating a place where connection, culture, and community came alive.

Join Our Mission

We invite you to support our mission by donating

to help us raise awareness, educate families, and empower individuals in rural areas with the knowledge and tools to understand advanced heart failure—and how to access the specialized care they need.

Our goal is simple yet urgent:
To bring advanced heart failure care closer to the communities that need it most.

One heart, one community at a time.
