One Heart,

One Community

Message from our Foundation’s President

Why Purple & Gold, the Heart & the symbol of the Mustang

Our colors and symbols are a love letter to our roots in Del Rio, TX.

Purple and gold honor San Felipe High School, where my father graduated in 1961. The San Felipe Exes alumni gather each year to celebrate the community, faith, and school spirit of the beloved barrio of San Felipe. The heart centers the people we serve. San Felipe High School’s mascot, the mustang, embodies the resilience, pride, and forward motion that shape our family and our work. Together, they remind us to serve with dignity, hope, and courage—Making It Happen — One Heart, One Community at a Time.

My Personal Message

I am committed to passing on to my daughter, Morgan, the values my father instilled in music, service, faith, and community. Through education, advocacy, and hands-on support, we’re turning those lessons into action for families facing heart failure. I’m deeply grateful to my husband, Cairo, whose steady encouragement makes this work possible. Every program we build honors my father, Homero, and my brother, Rodney, carrying forward their spirit of generosity and resilience. With our partners, volunteers, and neighbors, we’re Making It Happen — One Heart, One Community at a Time.
